The Crowd, the Nails and the Three Crosses

Over the last decade I have attended several Passion Plays.  I went to Oberammergau in 2010.  I stayed for Easter at Lee Abbey twice, taking the part of the crowd alongside fellow guests as the Easter story was played out over the week.  I also worked backstage on the Wivenhoe Passion Play in 2012.  The role of the crowd has been powerful.  We may attend for 'entertainment' but we play a vital role in the drama around us.  We condemn, we urge on the aggressors and we stand by.  This picture explores all those themes, there are nails and a crowd, but there is light and the crosses are both part of the image and stand out from it.
